How do you buy books on the Kindle reader?

My mom is going to get me the Kindle reader as a Christmas gift and we wanted to know how do you buy the books on it? Thank you for helping us.

Actually you should just buy the Kindle device first. You can then shop directly through your Kindle device for ebooks, or you can buy books through PC computer and copy them to the Kindle.
BTW, there are some websites like these two, where you can find more than ten thousand free books for the Kindle. So no need to go to library to borrow them, you can actually own them:
